Light Room

In Light Room, everyday objects stand behind a large sheet of frosted acrylic and are lit from the far side, so visitors see only their silhouettes. A bottle, a glass or a lamp becomes a familiar shape reduced to shadow, shifting as colored light moves slowly across the room.

Serin is interested in how little information we need to recognize something. The installation keeps each object present but out of reach. Viewers complete it from their own memory, and each completes it differently.
