Synthetic Bloom

Synthetic Bloom is a series of 3D renders in which hydrangea and wildflower forms are generated, mirrored and layered until they no longer belong to any real plant. Pale blues and greens drift in and out of focus, closer to the feeling of a garden than to a picture of one.

Serin began the series by photographing flowers and feeding the images into a growth algorithm that “blooms” new petals from them. The results sit between nature and simulation and ask whether a flower that was never planted can still carry the memory of one.
